Lost glory

Lost glory

A painter captures a moment in time and makes it immortal. But is it really? The canvas travels through time, conveying a story different to the perception of every onlooker. The painting is altered by sunlight, humidity, human interference. Colours fade, dust gathers and the paint may crack and fall off, revealing the layers beneath.

The collection Lost Glory represents what a 17th century masterpiece must sustain to arrive in the 21st: time travel, personal interpretations and the process of decomposition. An item may question your own perception: is it the wrong way round? Wasn’t that shirt meant to be symmetrical? Another may reveal the process of decomposition through time travel by showing its layers beneath or a suggestive loose thread.
